Men's Invitation Day 2023

This annual event took place on Saturday 2nd September 2023. A field of 72 players comprising 36 members and their guests enjoyed a full day of golf. A 9 hole Texas scramble took place on the morning followed by lunch and a pairs 4 ball better ball competition in the afternoon. The weather was kind to us and the day was rounded off with an evening meal and presentations.

Thanks are due to our playing members and their guests for supporting this important annual event. Also, many thanks to our ever present Chair, Hilary Thorne who was on the registration desk from 7.30am together with Nigel Thorne on the first tee to welcome the players and throughout the day. Hilary was kindly supported by lady members Di Stephens and Debbie Lewin at various times.

Thanks to our Office team for organising the whole day, to our pro shop and as ever, Darren and his team for presenting the course in its usual immaculate fashion!

A special thanks to Rupert Burwell-Lynch (one of our youngest members) who did such a great job in ball spotting on the first tee. I don’t think I’ve ever come across such a polite, friendly and chatty ball spotter before! Well done and thank you, Rupert!

Congratulations to the Texas Scramble team winners: Ben Coveney, Mark Mack, Dickie O’Dea and Richard Neale.

And also to the better ball winners: Ben Coveney and Mark Mack.
