The Seniors Section

  • ARE YOU 60 OR OVER?

  • CONSIDERING JOINING A GOLF CLUB?

Why not consider joining us here at Salisbury and South Wilts where we have a very active Seniors section managed by an excellent pro-active Committee.

We currently enjoy a registered membership of over 160 members in the Seniors Section.  We do require eligible members to register through the website so that we can ensure they receive up-to-date information via email circulations and are made aware of specific benefits available to them as a Seniors Section Member.

The Seniors Section runs a ‘100 Club’ monthly raffle with prizes and multiple benefits for all who join and for this reason we encourage our members to do so.

Monday mornings from 7.00 to 10.20 is the official Seniors time, with competitions held on most Mondays. There are many regular events, Medals, Stablefords, Eclectics, Scrambles, Bowmakers etc.  Entry to these competitions is done online via the website or using the free iG Member App where you can enter yourself into any available time slot. This is a very good way to mix with other members.

Each year the Seniors Captain hosts a special Captain's Day which Seniors can enjoy playing in plus the Vice Captain hosts an Away Day at another Golf Club not too far away.

There are a number of informal roll ups run during the week which are organised by some of our members. Further information on all these activities is available by contacting the Seniors Competitions Secretary.

About 36 Friendly matches are played throughout the season against other Clubs and all Seniors, regardless of handicap, are encouraged to enter for these matches.  The Seniors also play some additional trophy competitions such as the Knighton Heath Trophy in the summer and a Winter League - both of which are knock out events.

The very popular Seniors Open is hosted annually in the summer and is available to all men players over the age of 60.  A playing handicap limit of 21 is applied, though higher handicap players may also enter. An extensive and generous prize table makes this event very attractive to players from surrounding counties and guarantees a full entry every year.

If you are interested and would like more information about the Seniors Section  and its workings , please contact our Club Manager, Andy Beal or one of his staff and they will be able to provide you with answers to your questions and help guide you through the whole joining process.
